Evergreen Notes
The idea of Evergreen notes are that they should be written and organized with the intention to be revisited and evolved overtime. Rather than using notes for information storage and scratch thoughts, Evergreen notes start out as simple and built on when revisited. The ideas are laid out by Andy Matuschak.
Here are the main principles:
- Evergreen notes should be atomic
- Evergreen notes should be concept-oriented
- Evergreen notes should be densely linked
- Prefer associative ontologies to hierarchical taxonomies
- Write notes for yourself, disregarding audience
Matuschak says himself that this system he has developed is inspired by Zettelkasten
There are a lot of ideas that I want to learn more about from Matuschak's notes. He has brought up some concepts that I will definitely try out over time. I think I'm already familiar with several of the concepts listed here like notes being atomic and notes should be linked. However, I think that the last point is especially interesting. It seems for many people, especially me, note-taking is an aesthetic
